The Library of Congress recently added to its collection the papers of Al Neuharth, founder of USA TODAY, the Newseum and the Freedom Forum.

On the 38th anniversary of the launch of USA TODAY, join us to celebrate Neuharth and his pioneering commitment to diversity in the news media. Neuharth’s dedication to creating newsrooms that reflected America’s diversity established USA TODAY as a national model for promoting minorities and women. His visionary leadership offers lessons for today as the nation wrestles with addressing its legacy of inequality.

Distinguished speakers will include a Library of Congress curator and Wanda Lloyd, a former senior editor at USA TODAY, and author of “Coming Full Circle: From Jim Crow to Journalism,” on Al Neuharth’s dedication to journalism, the First Amendment and creating diversity in newsrooms, and the lessons his visionary leadership has for today.
