Employers routinely identify superior communication skills as a critical hiring priority. These skills – speaking, writing, listening and visual communication – form the core of student learning in the Department of Communication Studies at Bridgewater State University. The department’s three interconnected learning pathways integrate critical and theoretical perspectives with hands-on experiences that prepare graduates for successful careers in fields ranging from television, film and journalism, to public relations and business communications. Students emerge from BSU as competent and confident oral, written and visual communicators, and our graduates put their skills to use in a wide variety of fields where effective communication is critical to success.
