Covering statehouses and elections has never been so important. Student reporters are at the front lines. In this session, we will hear from some of the leaders involved in these programs. Mark Horvit (University of Missouri) is a former investigative reporter and active member of the statehouse reporting student cohort, Jackie Alexander is the President of the College Media Association (University of Alabama, Birmingham) and the advisor to the student paper, (invited). Meg Little Reilly manages the democracy beat for CCN and writes about Higher Education/Democracy for Forbes. Moderated by Kathleen McElroy (UT Austin) who manages a statehouse reporting program and is the chair of CCN’s Advisory Committee.
